Here are some of the most important updates Facebook has made about their revised data policy and the impact it is likely to have on brands.

  1. Transparency about data-sharing

It is the best security of the users. Through this policy, Facebook has reiterated their commitment to protecting user data by tightening their data-sharing policies. They will no longer spread private user information or allow partners to use this information in ways that violate their privacy policy. This feature improves the privacy setting of users. For the brand, it is the positive change.

  1. Closing third-party data providers

Through this features, advertisers on Facebook could target consumers based on very personal insights provided by third-party data agencies. For this policy people not use your data. With this feature brands can also continue using Facebook’s database as well as their own customer data through the Customs Audience tool, the exact impact of this change is yet to be seen.

  1.  New Creative Tools in App’s Ads Manager

Marketers who are frustrated with needing to edit and add creatively to images before uploading them to the ads manager (which often requires multiple tools or apps) will be thrilled to see the newest creative tools available in the ads manager app. With this feature users edit their photos in-app, including cropping, utilizing templates, adding color filters, and slapping on new shapes, stickers, and even logos.

  1. Custom audience:

Through custom audience, Facebook updating fine and giving me number values under the size column. Recently, the number of values have changed. Facebook is planning to remove audience reach estimates from Custom Audiences due to a vulnerability concern. While this was initially reported by Facebook as a bug for which they were working on a resolution, it is now evident that FB is taking a new approach when reporting on audiences derived from personal data.

  1. Facebook Follows Through on App Shut Downs

This past May, Facebook mandated that all apps undergo an app review process by August 1st. Well, August 1st has passed, and Facebook actually held up their end of the bargain. This change will only improve privacy and safety for users with zero impact on brands and advertising. Since apps that users consistently engage with will not be affected, brands will still have access to their main target audience.

This was done in an effort to increase transparency, and to make sure that the apps that had access to user data weren’t using it in any way that violated Facebook’s terms of service.
