Google Search Google Lens Get New Shopping Features in India

On Thursday Google announced the roll-out of its shopping hub to Indian users. The new experience is available across Google products including a Shopping homepage Google Search (Shopping tab) and Google lens Users with entry-level phones can also access the shopping page. India has the second largest population of internet users in the world, and it’s only getting bigger. While 400 million Indians are online today, less than one out of three buy things online. After Flipkart and Amazon, search engine giant Google has launched shopping search features in India. Here, a user will easily filter and choose their products through offers, review prices from multiple retailers and find products that they are looking for.

Through Google’s new feature of Shopping Homepage, we get offers of multiple product categories across thousands of retailers. The new shopping hub also has features like price drops and collection of the most popular products on Google.

On Shopping Homepage will be available also as ‘Shopping Tab’ in Google Search and Style Search in Google Lens. The former will show product lists, local store inventory, prices across several retailers and let users post queries in Hindi and English. Google Lens will now let users find products such as clothes, furniture, and home decor, by simply pointing their camera on an item.

The "Shopping Tab" in Google Search will allow users to post queries in Hindi and English and show product lists, local store inventory and review prices from across multiple retailers. For retailers, the company will offer its ‘Merchant Center’ in Hindi, which will allow the sellers to list their products for Google Shopping, without paying for ad campaigns. 

Google Vice President Product Management Surojit Chatterjee told reporters here. Google Shopping will be a connector between retailers and consumers, and the transaction and delivery of products will be handled by the merchant, he added.
