Google Chrome Will Soon Work Well With Macos Dark Mode

Now the Google release chorme7 1 with their new feature earlier in the week. Google's popular Chrome browser is getting a new dark mode for, If you're a Chrome user, you'll know Google is yet to catch up but that's going to change in early 2019.

Google released Chrome version 71 earlier this week, and version 72 which is due for release in January has already been “branched,” so no new features will be considered for it. That means we’ll likely have to wait for version 73 in around in early 2019. So, there is a high probability that Chrome 73 will be the build which eventually brings support for dark mode and will most likely arrive in March next year, but a definite release date is yet to be officially revealed.

The new features indicates that that users will see a black background on the start-up and search page as well as the shortcuts interface. Also, the dark mode will add a darker tint to the tabs, dialog boxes, menus, bookmark bar and the status bar among other UI elements.

Apple added a feature in macOS 10.14 that allows users to choose a system-wide light or dark theme. Switching the system to dark mode will flip all compatible apps to a dark color palette. Chrome for macOS does not currently support this feature, but the dark color scheme of Chrome’s incognito mode is reportedly creating a problem when it comes to implementation of macOS Mojave’s dark mode on the browser. So, developers are currently working on distinguishing the incognito mode’s appearance from the dark mode theme.

A system-wide native dark mode is certainly a cool feature of macOS and something a lot of people would like to see on Android. Being able to instantly swap all apps to a dark color scheme at night would be very convenient. Hopefully, Google will see how nice the dark mode looks in macOS and bring it to Chrome on all platforms.

Chrome Version 71

Google is just recently released Chrome 71, the latest version of its web browser, a release that is primarily focused on bolstering Chrome's security posture. But it did not include native support for Dark Mode. So, developers are currently working on distinguishing the incognito mode’s appearance from the dark mode theme.

What Is Chromium?

Chromium is the open source web browser on which Chrome and a lot of other web browsers are based. Google engineers always test beta features on different versions of Chrome first before rolling them out to the general public. All code changes begin in Chromium and, if they pass, move on to Canary, Chrome Dev, Chrome Beta, then finally to Chrome, the stable, consumer-facing version of Chrome that mainstream users have access to.
